Dick Morris Endorses Dr. Mike Goldstein
Goldstein is Poised to Upset Party-Insider Jayme Stevenson on Tuesday
On May 5 of this year, 174 Republican party insiders from Fairfield County went to a Convention at Fairfield University and nominated a fellow party insider, former Darien First Selectman Jayme Stevenson, to run against Democratic incumbent Jim Himes.

Dr. Michael Goldstein
Dr. Michael Goldstein (full disclosure - I am a volunteer for Dr. Goldstein’s campaign), a financially-secure 72-year-old Greenwich ophthalmologist and lawyer wanted the right to be considered also. Dr. Goldstein has nothing to gain from this. He could be on a cruise or on an exotic vacation with his charming wife. But Dr. Goldstein was tired of seeing Connecticut destroyed by the Democrats while Republicans did not bother to put up a fight.
But not only did Dr. Goldstein lose at the Convention, he did not even receive the required 15% to obtain the right to primary. And he was also treated rudely by some of the delegates.
And Dr. Goldstein said to himself, “Who are these 174 party insiders to choose a candidate that the vast majority of the 100,000 Fairfield County Republicans have never heard of? Few other states allow this unfairness. And it’s not like anyone they have chosen in the past has come close to winning.”
So Dr. Goldstein did something no one else has done in recent memory. He got the requisite number of signatures to earn a position on the ballot. And on August 9, Fairfield County Republicans will decide who will battle Jim Himes.
Dr. Goldstein has recruited an army of volunteers who are knocking on doors and planting his signs - many of which have been stolen by his political opponents. None of Dr. Goldstein’s volunteers have touched a Jayme Stevenson sign - as few as there are.
His efforts have culminated in Fairfield County resident and advisor to Presidents of both parties - Dick Morris - giving Dr. Goldstein the following endorsement.
Dick Morris hits the nail on the head. The Fairfield County party insiders actually prefer Jim Himes to a candidate like Dr. Mike Goldstein. In fact, in 2016, not a single elected Republican official endorsed Donald Trump for president yet Trump won the Connecticut Republican primary with 58% of the vote. Republican party insiders are totally out of touch with the average Republican voter. They are more interested in making nice with the Democrats.
That is why Jayme Stevenson was nominated. There is basically no difference between her and Jim Himes. What are these two going to argue about?
“Should the corporate tax rate be 28% or 23.2%?”
“Was the 1989 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild cabernet over-oaked?”
On August 9, Republican primary voters have a choice. Do they want to roll-over and play dead for Jim Himes. Or do they want the fearless Dr. Mike Goldstein in the ring with Jim Himes.
