Jeremy Boland Should Be Fired Immediately

       A Greenwich elementary school assistant principal, Mr. Jeremy Boland, presumably believed he was having a drink with an attractive woman. In actuality, he was speaking to an investigative reporter from the conservative platform, Project Veritas, who was surreptitiously videotaping him. During this time, he inadvertently let the cat out of the bag: that our educational institutions are not only leftist, but actively discriminate in their hiring practices to maintain ideological purity.

      In this videotape, he made the following statements:

     “But if they’re Catholic – conservative…You don’t hire them.” And: “If someone is raised hardcore Catholic, it’s like, they’re brainwashed – you can never change their mindset.”

“One of the questions that I might start including [when deciding who to hire as a teacher] is something about transgender students, students that are — identify — what is it, non-binary?” [If the interviewee responds] "Well, I don’t think kids have enough knowledge to make that decision [gender identity] for themselves (sic)" “You’re out.”

“Do we work for the parent or do we work for the kid?” Boland asks.

“You tell me” the woman [the Project Veritas reporter] says.

“We work for the kid,” he replies.

    Thus, Mr. Boland is documented as having said that he will not hire conservative Catholics, will not hire someone who questions the transgender agenda and believes that his job is to ignore parental input if it disagrees with his agenda.

      Connecticut’s liberal power structure immediately circled the wagons to protect Mr. Boland. The head of the teachers’ union (CEA or Connecticut Education Association) Kate Dias stated in an email:

    “We have been alerted that Project Veritas has dropped a hit piece using an administrator in Greenwich. While a teacher was not used (so far) the narrative is that of hiring liberal teachers to indoctrinate students, so it is not kind to educators,”

     She instructed her members to avoid speaking to any reporters.

      Attorney General William Tong demeaned Project Veritas as “entrapment journalism and gotcha journalism.”

    But this is an election year and liberals quickly changed their tune when Republican candidates pounced as exemplified by US Senate Republican candidate Leora Levy’s response:

      “We send our children to school to learn the essentials: reading, writing, history and math, and most important of all – critical thinking. Yet, Democrats are using schools as an opportunity to preach woke ideology to children!”

      Mr. Tong quickly changed his tune, calling for a full investigation with major Democratic politicians such as Governor Lamont and Senator Blumenthal following suit.

     But Mr. Boland should be fired immediately. He has not even bothered to apologize for these statements. Instead, he has been placed on “administrative leave” meaning he gets paid for doing nothing

     Some may believe this is too harsh. But let’s put the shoe on the other foot. What would happen to a public-school principal in Connecticut who admitted he did not hire gays because he was a conservative Christian?

     The liberals would be screaming bloody murder. The incident would be plastered ad nauseum on the front page of every newspaper in the state. The perpetrator would be groveling 24-7. And there would be no “investigation.” Not only would that person be fired, but he would lose his pension and health insurance.

    The liberal powers-that-be are hoping this will blow over so that Mr. Boland can return to his job where he will continue to discriminate against conservative Catholics, promote the transgender and woke ideology.

     Years ago, when our daughters attended the Fairfield public schools, they received an excellent education. But what was most impressive is when my wife and I would attend the parent-teacher conferences, we got one overwhelming impression: These teachers cared about our daughters and wanted them to thrive. They were consummate professionals. They wanted our daughters to master English, Calculus and Spanish. There was no political agenda.

      What’s changed? If a person like the remorseless Mr. Boland wants to be a social justice warrior that’s fine – but he should run for public office. He shouldn’t hide in taxpayer-funded education bureaucracies trying to brainwash our children.  It is possible that many teachers in the CEA disagree with the woke ideology being pursued by the likes of Mr. Boland, but are just too timid to object.

     But in the meantime, Mr. Boland should be fired. That is the only language the CEA will understand. It’s bad enough that the CEA had enough power to close our schools unnecessarily during the pandemic (while they still got paid) greatly damaging the education of our children, especially minorities. They should not be allowed to brainwash our children by pushing liberalism, prejudice against conservatives and the transgender agenda.
