Sorry, this whole article made me sick. First of all, James Carroll is not a priest. He was a long time ago, but no longer--so don't pull the religion thing. As you know, there are Catholics and there are "Catholics." Not saying which category he's in, but the bona fides aren't there.
Anti-zionism is NOT anti-semitism.
You have no criticism of the horrible tactics that are being used against the Palestinians, most of them innocent women and children. Self-defense??????????
I doubt that Oct. 7 attack was a "surprise." Israeli tech is second to none, and they, unlike us, defend their borders. Furthermore, there was a 7 hr. standown by Israel. And many of the casualties of that day were self-inflicted. They are burying the cars that were destroyed by shots fired from helicopters--burying the evidence without forensic review? Israel is in a war, but they're taking the time and effort to bury a field of cars using heavy equipment. Sure. There are kibbutz whistleblowers saying they were fired upon by the IDF. I don't trust the mainstream news.
People sort of notice the cruelty and are outraged.
They are also using white phosphorous bombs on civilians.
People notice these things. We are outraged that this is happening, yet it's all about "anti-semitism."
Attending Northeastern University from 69-74 I came into contact with Mr Carroll frequently. My now husband and I frequented the Paulist Center over on Park St and got involved with some his work. He helped us write our wedding vows. That he is no longer is a priest is a testament to his judicious response to what was happening in our Churches at the time. Sadly I knew several victims of abuse and my husband was shocked to see a coach at his Catholic high school depicted in the movie spotlight. I don’t know who would be called a bona fide Catholic these days under the Obama appointed Communist from SA. He seems to draw on the former presidents tactics to divide and conquer. Having a son who served in Afghanistan it was comforting that Mr Carroll spoke out fiercely against the war against a backdrop of silence. Women have been fervent here in the United States speaking out about rape but listen to The Five interview Congresswoman Jayapal and UN Director Susan Hendricks talk in double speak about the atrocities inflicted on women on October 7 and refuse to acknowledge the raping of Israeli women and girls. If people want Trump out speak up and speak out and stand for something.
Yes, we have a lot of bad things happening in the Church, esp. of late. Forget bergoglio. In my book, he has made himself irrelevant. One thing is for certain: He ain't Catholic. This too shall pass.
Did anything of what I said register with you? The Palestinian death toll now stands at over 15k and you're talking about a number of Israeli women and girls raped? That wasn't done by govt. action. I'm sure it happened--war brings out the worst in people, but the Israeli GOVT is using bombs that are not to be used on civilian targets. Look up white phosphorous bombs. This is not the first time the Israelis used them on Gaza--back in 2009 there was extensive use of them.
Hospitals are being bombed.
Then there is the forewarning of a bombing campaign in which people are given a very small amt. of time to evacuate. How can they go anywhere, when the roads are clogged with rubble? And remember when the war first started, and the people were told they could go to Rafah, the border crossing to Egypt? So they did, and guess what was bombed?
By all appearances, Oct. 7 was a false flag--just like Pearl Harbor was. It was ALLOWED to happen. Same as 911.
Mossad's motto is "By way of deception.
Not only is Gaza being terrorized--also Ramallah, in the West Bank, is being attacked. It is not run by Hamas.

Here is something else addressing your specific point:

I don't understand your last sentence.
